Many people have asked me, “what is the difference between a general clean and a deep clean?” To keep it simple, a deep clean is a general clean…on steroids.
A general clean (which is usually a routine clean) includes those chores that you would do every week such as dust your furniture, change your bed sheets, clean your toilet, sink and tub, etc. A deep clean would take these routine chores to another level. Polishing furniture, washing mattress covers and airing mattresses and pillows, scrubbing shower/tub walls and doors, dusting light fixtures and window blinds.
Where a general clean may take 3-4 hours to complete, a deep clean can take 5-8 hours or even a couple of days depending upon the size of the home and how much attention is needed.
Oftentimes a professional cleaning service will suggest a deep clean preceding the scheduling of regular routine cleaning services. This can help keep costs down for the client in the long run and make the most of the time spent cleaning on a regular basis.
